Well, Friday night I went out with a group of girlfriends for a few drinks and had a fantastic time!
Saturday was one of stormy weather - all.day. So the kids and I stayed home. Then, later in the afternoon the storm came overhead and there was hail, and lightning and the thunder without a beat between them, before it continued to move on. I had turned the computer off at that time, and upon rebooting I checked my usual news website to see breaking news that there was a tornado just 15mins down the road. After facebooking about it, I discovered that several friends were within minutes of it (one was on the way to the supermarket, only it was closed due a car being thrown into it; and another had been driving along the highway, only to witness the devastation of it having thrown cars, trucks, and trees all around).
On Sunday I intended on getting out of the house, but with all the wind outside I really didn't feel too enthused being out there in it. In the morning Simon headed out to get a trailer-load of sand to lay down as part of the foundation for our garden shed (yes, it's still an ongoing project lol). I had advertised on Freecycle that I was looking for some sand and had several responses. After lunch Simon took the kids out to burn off a bit of energy while I caught up on a bit of housework and mountains of washing (due to the wet weather, the drying rack was full and it was a bit of a juggling game getting things dried, folded, and put away).
Throughout the day I pulled out my drawing pad as inspiration hit me. I decided to give it a go at drawing the kids' portraits.
(his eyes are a bit too close together)
I haven't got the section of portrait drawing yet, so it will be interesting to see how these change as I learn more. I can certainly see where I haven't quite got it right.
This is the final of my contour drawings.
This evening we decided to try out our new coffee table for eating our dinner at (bangers and spuds lol). It was a very pleasant little setting.
All of this drawing has sparked an interest to attempt to modify my handwriting style. I found a font that I quite like and have been practicing with it. It's not so different to my current style, but has a few changes that I really like. It is the Estrya Font.
In my looking for a new font, I came across articles that spoke about personality and handwriting (I have heard of handwriting analysis, but didn't realise that by changing your handwriting it can influence your personality...!). Maybe I better do some research into that before I randomly go changing my style :P

Wow suddenly I feel like I'm wasting my life lol - drawing, drumming etc - fantastic stuff! Must be good to have things happening in the winter months when it's so easy to hibernate.
You've been inspirational! I must get off my butt and do stuff! Yay :)
Definitely nice to find some new things to get stuck into over winter. Still wanting a drum though so I can really practice. I also have 'learn to play the guitar' on my to-do list (hoping that Nathan's 3/4 guitar will be the right size for me hehe).
OOOo lovely hand. And go you doing portraits too! Steaming ahead. Looking fab.
Oh, Japanese style. So sweet!
