Wow, I been seeing this discussed out there on the net. What a neat idea (and such a time waster lol). If you're like me and like to gather pictures to remind you of crafts you'd like to create, or as inspiration for living or garden spaces, hairstyles you like etc, then pinterest is for you! I have folders on my computer where I save such categories, but this way they're all together and easily accessed. Even better, as you're browsing websites and like a picture, you click the Pinterest button up in your browser and it allows you to put it straight into the Pinterest folder you want it in (it also credits the website that you've taken it from). There's also a social networking factor where people can follow you, like your photos, or repin the photo into their folders.
It's basically the online equivalent of a noticeboard where you pin up magazine cutouts and place them into categories - only electronically!
