Independence Days - January

More a repeat of previous posts for my own reference rather than anything interesting...

Plant something: I have a couple of trays of seeds going...brassicas, leeks, beetroot, ruby chard and lettuces. I have bought several lots of supermarket seedlings to fill a gap between my plants growing and the seed trays...brassicas, leeks, lettuces. I even popped some more chitted potatoes in the ground to see if I could get another harvest before the frosts.
Harvest something: Ruby chard, potatoes (all dug up!), strawberries, fresh herbs, rhubarb, garlic (all pulled up) and scarlett runner beans.
Preserve something: Drying my foraged herbal weeds and will make blackberry jam. The beans are coming through thick and fast. I harvested a decent sized handful the other day and that has been used up, but I can see I'll need to get the rest off the vines and sliced and blanched for the freezer before they get too big in size and inedible. I will leave some on the vines to dry out for next spring's plantings.
Eat the food: As per usual, I don't really stick to recipes so much depending on what seasonal vegetables are there for using up. Sliced beans have gone into nachos for tonight's dinner and last night was alongside our roast chicken meal.
