Cheese!

Finally, I managed to find myself some rennet today when we went to a different supermarket. So this afternoon we decided to give it a go.

I was surprised at how super easy and quick this was to do. I used the Mozzarella recipe from the Animal, Vegetable, Miracle book.

The result...homemade pizza (not that I'd planned on having make up a pizza base today, but there you are). I didn't salt it, but would definitely do so next time.

Hiya Nikki - was saying only yesterday to the kids, we must have a go at making our own cheese (though thinking silently that I wouldn't have a clue where to start) so THANKS, will give this a go !

looks delicious ... making me hungry!!
Was that the recipe using the microwave? Did it come out nice and stretchy?

Very impressive. You make it look easy.

Johanna, yes it was stretchy, but did need a few more reheatings as the recipe suggested it might. It wasn't overly stretchy once cooked, but will definitely give it another go but will use a different recipe to compare. Yep, done in the microwave which isn't my first preference I must admit but the recipe also has instructions to reheat it using the whey (which my chickens have been dished up with their pellets for a few days lol).
